How It Works

First, let’s explain ‘holistics’.

The word holistic stems from ‘holism’ (from the Greek word ‘holos’, meaning whole). According to Oxford Languages, Holism is defined as “the theory that parts of a whole are in intimate interconnection, such that they cannot exist independently of the whole, or cannot be understood without reference to the whole, which is thus regarded as greater than the sum of its parts.”

Holistic medicine refers to “the treating of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of an illness.” Treating physical symptoms may provide relief for a short time, but if the root causes are ignored, the issue often reoccurs.

At Daily Holistics, we take a holistic approach: we consider the whole of the person, not just a part.

We look at the whole lifestyle, not only at the most obvious physical symptoms. For example, if somebody is always tired, it is easy to advise them to go to bed earlier and get more sleep. With a few more questions, however, to understand their lifestyle factors such as caffeine intake, work routine, home life, stress levels, responsibilities, and eating habits, we can create a set of solutions tailored to the individual’s needs. This is a much more effective approach, since ‘one size fits all’ often doesn’t work so well.

Next, let’s talk about ‘when’.

The clue is in the name! This is a daily method.

Not only do we practise our holistic techniques every day, we continue regardless of our circumstances. This is why we see such great results.

Think of it like this:

We study for an exam, or we train for a sporting competition. When the exam or the event comes, we are ready! We’ve been practising for this moment. IF, however, we do no studying or no training, we make the test a lot harder for ourselves. The trick is to study, to train (i.e., to practise and master the techniques) so that when the test comes, when life throws us a curveball, we are ready to handle it without completely losing our inner peace.

“Why every day?”

Consistency is key – it’s a cliché, but it’s true. The aim is to create healthy habits that become second nature.

“I’m not feeling motivated”

Motivation: some days it comes, some days it doesn’t. Motivation is great, but it is not a good idea to depend on it if we want to make changes. We’re not particularly motivated to brush our teeth every day, but we do it! The same rules apply here. Consistency – especially in the absence of motivation – leads to formation of habits. You can choose: do you want to use your time to create helpful habits, or unhelpful ones?

At Daily Holistics we don’t wait around for motivation to show up. Working with Sophie, you will reap the rewards of consistent practise, particularly on the hardest days.

“Life’s good right now! I’ll be in touch when the going gets tough”

If you remember nothing else, remember this: it is very important to practise these tools and techniques when times are ‘good’, and not to use them only when something difficult happens. Imagine you have a car and the brakes haven’t been looked at for a while. If you need to brake sharply, you know the car probably won’t be able to stop in time until you get them looked at and repaired. You have to maintain the equipment so that when you need it most, it will work with no hesitation. The same applies to your body and mind.

These are quick and easy methods that we can take pleasure in: they are practical, enjoyable additions to our days.
